claim .versus. rebut

claim .versus. rebut

it's saturday and i decided to stay home.

did a little of the assignments and slacked through.

read news online and found this amazingly ridiculous.

http://sg.news.yahoo.com/cna/20080712/tap-729-comfortdelgro-taxis-impose-30-ce-231650b.html

http://www.comfort-transportation.com.sg/rates_charges.html

are the transportation companies facing some kind of competitions (hike in fares) within the industry?

1. increase in ERP charges.
claim: to soothe traffic flow.
rebut: how to soothe traffic flow when ERP gantries are implemented almost everywhere?

2. increase in SMRT (bus and train) fares.
claim: commuters save more when they transfer more.
rebut: don't commuters spend more also?

3. ComfortDelGro taxi to impose surcharge.
claim: to help drivers cope with the high diesel costs.
rebut: and comfortdelgro will keep increasing its fare if feul costs continue on hike?

*my (basic) cab fare will cost S$12.85 (the moment driver starts the metre) if i book a cab from the city during peak hours*

REBUT: when will the increase in salaries reach us?
